ANTHRAX Guitarist To Baptize White Tigers And Lions At SERENGETI FESTIVAL
June 25, 2009When ANTHRAX and the BLOODHOUND GANG play Germany's Serengeti Festival this weekend, they'll leave more than bleeding eardrums and smiling rockers' faces; Scott Ian and Evil Jared will baptize white lions and a white tiger at Safaripark Stukenbrock, the nature and wildlife park nearby.
It's only fitting — What name would suit a whole pack of lions better than "BLOODHOUND GANG?" Who could better give his name to a male white tiger than a legendary heavy metal veteran like ANTHRAX's Scott Ian?
Says Walent Cerkez of Vibra Agency, promoter of the festival: "As a lifelong ANTHRAX fan, I'm especially proud to have the band on the bill. The same goes for BLOODHOUND GANG, with whom we've been enjoying a good relationship for a long time. The Zoo Safari and Hollywoodpark and the Serengeti festival not only have been working together very well for four years now, next year's edition will actually be held inside the Safaripark area. So we're very happy to bring those two together with this, not to mention making the world aware of the important work that Safaripark is doing for these exciting, but rare animals."
In fact, white lions rank among the rarest animals on the planet with an estimated population of 150 worldwide. The Safaripark in Stukenbrock has been taking good care of white tigers since 1987 and had the first breeding pair in Europe, white lions since 1996. Legendary illusionists Siegfried and Roy became godfathers of the Stukenbrock lion breeding program in 1996 and took the first offspring under their wings. Safaripark is the only zoo in Germany where white lions live.
The Serengeti Festival will take place June 27-28 in Schloss Holte-Stukenbrok (near Bielefeld). Featured bands are DOWN, SOULFLY, ANTHRAX, BLOODHOUND GANG, STATIC-X, MILLENCOLIN, H-BLOCKX, DONOTS, GOD FORBID, THE NEW BLACK and more.
